This battery park will house batteries that help stabilize the electricity grid. The demand for transmission capacity on the electricity grid is increasing so rapidly that grid operators are currently struggling to keep up. Therefore, grid operators are focusing both on strengthening and expanding the network, as well as on innovative solutions to make optimal use of the existing energy infrastructure. The batteries in Wormerland will provide the necessary flexibility to the grid in the northern part of the province Noord-Holland.
The plans for the battery park in Wormerland are well advanced. The permit application was submitted in 2023. The municipality is currently processing the permit request.
