Musselkanaal (500 MW)
S4 has secured land in Ter Apelkanaal and obtained a guaranteed 380 kV grid connection at a new substation currently being developed by TenneT. This ensures direct access to the high-voltage grid and highlights the project’s strategic location. The required environmental permit was granted in July 2024.
We are currently conducting additional studies, including grid studies and environmental assessments, further developing the cable route, and initiating the procurement process for all key components. At the same time, we are exploring local partnerships, such as participation in an energy hub and the establishment of an emergency power supply, to enhance regional integration and social value.
The project represents a key pillar of our growth strategy in the Netherlands and offers significant potential for large-scale storage capacity. We expect to connect the battery to the electricity grid in 2027 and look forward to commencing construction.
