Groningen is now fully operational and marks an important milestone for S4 Energy. Historically, Groningen has played a critical role in the Netherlands’ energy supply—once as the center of natural gas extraction, and today as the northern hub connecting major offshore wind projects to the national grid.
In response to this shift, S4 Energy has developed and delivered large-scale energy storage solutions in the region. In Eemshaven, S4 Energy has completed a grid-scale energy storage facility with a 7.75 MW connection and a 4-hour capacity of 31 MWh. The company managed the full project lifecycle—from early-stage development and EPC through to commissioning—and continues to provide flexibility services to the grid today.
